FAQs

Questions that Porterville College students often ask...   and the answers.

Academic Calendar

What is the academic calendar?

It is a calendar that includes the important dates you need to know as a student. These dates include when the term begins and ends, deadlines for adding or dropping classes, etc.

Why should I care what's on the calendar?

Missing a deadline can impact your academic progress. For example, if you miss the deadline to drop a class, you may end up with an "F" grade. Deadline dates are important to know, and the academic calendar provides some of the most important ones to remember.

Where can I find a copy of the calendar?

You can find the academic calendar on the college website at www.portervillecollege.edu. The calendar is also posted in various locations such as the A/R office and counseling center.

What does the "60%" date mean on the calendar?

That is the last day you can drop a class and still receive a "W" grade. If you fail to drop a class by the 60% date, your instructor must give you a grade at the end of the class regardless if you have been attending class or not.

When is the last day to drop a class and still get a refund?

The 10% date - check the calendar for when that day is.

Do I come to school on "flex days"?

No. There are no classes held on flex days. Flex days are professional development days for the instructors.

Does the academic calendar change once classes start?

No.
