Confidentiality

Will what I say to a counselor be kept confidential?

Yes. You should feel comfortable to speak with your counselor and expect that what is discussed will be kept confidential. However, there are certain legal requirements regarding confidentiality that counselors are required to adhere to.

Can anyone access my information that is on My Ban Web?

Other than campus staff who has access to your academic records, the only person who can access your information is you. If you have given someone else your personal ID and login information, then that person can access your information, too. In addition, it is a violation of campus policy to give your personal login information to someone else. Doing so, may subject you to administrative discipline.

My parents want to see my records, can they?

If you are attending the college regardless of your age then your parents can only see your records if you give them permission to do so.

I'm afraid my spouse got access to my ID and PIN number, what can I do?

Go to the Admissions and Records office to have your PIN number changed immediately.

Can my parents get a copy of my transcripts?

If you are attending the college your parents can only get a copy of your transcripts if you give the Admissions and Records office permission to release your transcripts to them.

How secure are my records?

Your records are very secure. The college takes various measures to ensure the security of all records. Your records are never released to anyone without your explicit permission and are secured under lock and key in the Admissions and Records office.
