Enrolling

How do I register for/enroll in classes?

Once you have completed the admissions form, or if you are a continuing student, you can enroll by going to the college website and click on "MyBanWeb" and follow the instructions for registration.

What is a CRN?

The Course Reference Number is the number assigned to classes that you use when registering. Each class has a CRN, and you will be registered into the class with the CRN that you entered. It is important to make sure you are putting down the correct CRN when you register and to double-check your schedule when you finish registering.

I want to register into a class but it's full what do I do?

It is usually a good idea to get on the waiting list. Sometimes open seats become available due to drops from the class, and the next person on the waiting list is enrolled into the class. If you do not get on the waiting list, you will not have a chance to get in. If you do get on the waiting list, at least you have a chance to eventually get enrolled into the class.

Where can I get a copy of the class schedule?

The class schedule is available on the college website at www.portervillecollege.edu.

How do I get priority registration?

Students receive a priority registration number based on the total number of units completed and the completion of the matriculation requirements of assessment, orientation, and seeing a counselor. Students who have fewer units or may not have completed all of the matriculation requirements will receive a lower priority number. In addition, by law the college is required to grant priority registration to military veterans and students in the EOPS and DRC programs.

I've been here longer than my friend, but he has an earlier registration time why?

If you have more units completed than your friend, but you have a later registration time, it is probably because your friend completed the matriculation requirements of taking the assessment, attending orientation and seeing a counselor and you did not. Or, your friend might be a military veteran or in the EOPS or DRC programs which the college by law is required to grant priority registration to.

Do certain groups of students get registration priority over others?

Yes. By law, the college is required to grant priority registration to military veterans, and students in the EOPS and DRC programs.

Does my grade point average affect my priority registration?

No.

Do I have to register on my scheduled registration day/time?

No. You can register any time after your registration day/time, but if you wait you are essentially giving up your priority registration time to another student. The longer you wait, the more likely the classes you want will be filled. You cannot, however, register before your scheduled registration day/time.
