Work Experience

Can I get college credit for the work I do at my current job?

Yes.

Does the college find places for me to work so I can also get credit?

No, the college does not find you a job. You must already be employed or working in a volunteer capacity.

Do work experience credits count toward graduation?

Yes, generally as elective units; however, some certificate programs have work experience as part of their requirements.

Do work experience credits transfer to universities?

Some state universities accept work experience toward transfer while others do not. You should check with the university where you are planning to transfer to determine if they will accept your work experience credit.

Is there a maximum number of units I can receive through work experience?

A maximum of 4 credits may be earned each term up to a maximum of 16 credits.

Do I have to maintain a certain GPA or unit load in order to take work experience?

No.
