Disbursement:
Kern Schools Federal Credit Union (KSFCU) now handles all of the Financial Aid disbursement for the colleges in the Kern Community College District including Porterville College
Students who receive financial aid from Porterville College must inform KSFCU of their Financial Aid Disbursement Preference by filling out the form and returning it to the service center in the Financial Aid Office.
Disbursement Options
-
The quickest way for students to access their financial aid money is to open FREE Campus Savings and Checking accounts with KSFCU and have their financial aid money direct deposited to that account within 24 hours of the disbursement date. Students will receive a Porterville College Pirate Visa® Campus Card. The PC Campus Card can be used as a Student ID, library card and ATM/Debit card linked to the student's checking account.
-
Students may have their financial aid money direct deposited to an already existing account at another financial institution. Students who choose this option will receive their financial aid money within 5 business days of the disbursement date.
-
Students may have their financial aid money mailed to them as a check issued by Kern Schools Federal Credit Union. Students who choose this option will receive their financial aid money within 10 business days of the disbursement date.
-
Kern Community College District no longer issues checks to students. All financial aid disbursements are handled by Kern Schools Federal Credit Union. If students wish to keep receiving a check in the mail, they will receive a check issued by Kern Schools Federal Credit Union.
-
Students who do not inform KSFCU of their disbursement preference will continue to receive a check in the mail.
Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule
The following schedule is tentative based on the time frame for processing student's checks.
DO NOT depend on the financial aid check to supplement your living expenses. Your financial aid is issued based on units enrolled at time of disbursement, which means your funds could be reduced if you drop a course/s, are on a wait list, or if you are not maintaining academic progress as outlined in the "Satisfactory Progress Regulations". You may pick up an appeal form in the Financial Aid Office if you are required to appeal.
Financial Aid checks/direct deposits will NOT be issued prior to the date of disbursement for any reason.
Non-high school graduates or non-GED students must pass the Ability To Benefit test for eligibility of federal and state funds. For more information about this test, please contact the Student Services office at 791-2329.
Financial Aid checks will be mailed to students, based on address on file with Office of Admissions & Records. Please inform the Porterville College Office of Admissions & Records of any changes of your contact information.
